Can you get to port without going through a single traffic light?
Located on the Western Freeway, Ballarat provides direct road access to Melbourne and Adelaide, with the ports of Melbourne and Geelong, and Tullamarine and Avalon International Airports just over an hour from the Ballarat CBD.
Ballarat is also intersected by the Melbourne-Adelaide freight train line and the proposed intermodal freight hub in the Ballarat West Employment Zone (BWEZ) will allow raw materials to be delivered directly to manufacturing and processing facilities in BWEZ, and for finished products to be loaded in Ballarat for destinations around Australia and overseas.
Ballarat Airport is well equipped to meet regional needs, and will be developed to accommodate future regional and interstate demand. The Ballarat Airport is located seven kilometres north-west of the city centre on 476 hectares of land adjacent to BWEZ, and less than one kilometre from the Western Freeway. Infrastructure at the airport consists of three runways, two taxiways, a 30,000m² apron, five hangers with direct apron access, a 150m² terminal building, commercially leased buildings, two refuelling facilities, a non-directional beacon and an automatic weather station.
The facilities at the Ballarat Airport support a number of commercial aviation enterprises including aerial agriculture, corporate charter, recreational charter, aircraft support services and an international pilot training school.
