Investment in ICT is set to strengthen Ballarat’s profile as the premier high tech and knowledge based regional economy in Australia and the home of the country’s largest technology park.

Ballarat Tech Park, located on a 29 hectare site, is currently home to 30 ICT-orientated enterprises, a major regional employer and a hive of economic activity. Adjacent to Federation University Australia’s Mt Helen Campus and 10km from the centre of Ballarat, it has unprecedented access to a wealth of applied, academic and research knowledge and infrastructure at its doorstep.

A high technology incubator, established Tech Park and functioning ICT cluster ensure Ballarat is regional Australia’s entrepreneurial high tech capital, however to deliver on the commitment to house Australia’s largest Tech Park, expansion is underway.

A further 22 hectares of land, north of the existing Tech Park, has been identified for growth and expansion into the City's CBD has resulted in the redevelopment of a 3,000m2 building providing 25 quality office suites for tech-based enterprises.  A second CBD building is being redeveloped, which will result in further high quality office suites for new and entrepreneurial firms being offered to the market in the near future.

This ICT expansion project will generate employment, attract more enterprises to the region, help to revitalise the CBD and enhance the benefits of regional living.
